It took a long time for me to get used to this album, but I love it now. The main gripe I had about it was the bass didn't have a strong presence, but Lincoln's guitar work made up for it in my opinion. His riffs and solos carry the album, sometimes combined with intelligent use of keyboards. Steve's vocals are strong despite not being his death/thrash style. Unfortunately they didn't go too well with "Visited By An Angel" which is a beautiful song and has a powerful message. It is still one of my favorites on the album, along with "Metal Crusade," "Lock Up The Night" and "Hammer Of God." They also cover a number of their older songs, "God Rulz" being the best - it's thrashy and fun. This is music that just makes me feel good about being a Christian in a way that the CCM pop never could. When I need a lift, this is one of my top choices - and its doctrine is solid to boot. Thank you Steve, and God bless.

Mortification journey even further into power metal territory with this release. The extreme metal element is almost absent on this album, with the band going for more of a straight-ahead power/thrash appoach while using Steve's "hardcore" vocal style, which to me is comparable to Pro-Pain's Gary Meskil. The beefy production is also a pleasant surpise, giving the songs an in-your-face sound quality that had been absent on the past two releases. Excellent songwriting as well.

This is in my opinion one of there best creations. I love this album becasue its mostly power, though i do like death and thrash. The song ride the light is the ultimet(probly spelled ultimet wrong) example of power metal, it has alot of pride. Then theres is lock up night night......great, i realy enjoyed the slower parts of pearl, the song at war with war is strange because somehow i knew exactly what he was talking about, and finaly theres visited by an angel, not sure what it is but that song .....it just touches me lol almost shead a tear first time i listend to it. well thanks for your time i give it a 4.5 god bless.

A great thrash metal album here. This time, Mortification also includes some powerful keyboard-harmonies to give more atmosphere to some of the songs. Some songs are pretty straight foreward thrash, while others have more melody and thought to them. The disc also includes demo-tracks of 3 songs from the Triumph of Mercy album + an "old songs" medley which has been given a modern Mortification touch! In my oppinion, this album has the most up-lifting lyrics the band has written this far. Very "praise and worship"-ish.
