With "Blood World", Mortification brings in more of a "hardcore" influence to match the "shouting" vocal style that predominates the album. There are still blast-beats and grind vocals to be found here, but the overall death metal sound is less prevelant than before. This album also features a more "raw" production approach as opposed to the epic, "artsy" sound of "Post Momentary Affliction".

Leaving their death metal behind, Mortification turns towards a more modern-feeling version of thrash metal with lots of groove. The growls are also pretty much gone, replaced by Steve's yells, which fits the music nicely, however, it's a let down for the old hardcore fans. The messages is as always challenging and up-lifting.
