Steve Rowe is probably one of the most known people from the Christian Metal scene. Being the leader of Mortification, one of the more popular bands, and owning Rowe Productions, he can easily be called one of the more important people of the scene. Thankfully he found some time to do a short interview with JesusMetal.

Please introduce Mortification and yourself for the few readers who have not yet heard of you.

My name is Steve Rowe. I am 40 years of age. I have been playing Christian Metal for 21 years. My 80's bands were Rugged Cross ('84), King's Image ('85), Lightforce ('86 to '89). Lightforce was early Maiden/Priest in style. I started with Mortification in '90.

What can we expect from your upcoming album, Erasing the Goblin?

More of a Death metal album. Both fast & slow. Little bit of Power & Punk metal mixed in. The lyrics are very focused on Jesus and salvation.

You also announced the re-issueing of the Mortification live-vids on DVD. What can we expect from this? Will there be bonus-features on the DVDs?

The first to be re-issued is Grind Planets. From '91 & '92. Many pro film clips from the Selftitled & Scrolls of the Megilloth albums. On-tour footage, making of Scrolls of the Megilloth plus bonus live club show.

Some Mortification fans auctioned some merchandise on eBay lately as "Mortification fundraisers". What is the thought behind this action? Can we expect more? What have the results been so far?

Being independent is difficult financially. No Nuclear Blast or Metal Blade anymore. The re-issues at this point are being done by Soundmass, not by me. The donations are so helpful in making this new project the best it can be. We love the fans who want to keep Jesus focused Metal alive. It is very humbling to think that people would do this to help fund the message of salvation.

Are you currently working on releasing more CDs with Rowe Productions? If so, which ones?

No more Rowe Productions plans at this stage,. Hopefully some Mortification re-issues?
